So much fun was had this past week! Our daughter had a Christmas party at her school, got all our Christmas shopping done and I had to share what happen on Friday before winter break. So she is a third grader and when she asked me to come and volunteer my time at her school party. I was like yes sure, what can I do? Well the best way for me to give back in my opinion is with photos. I LOVE TAKING PHOTOS!
So I asked her teacher and she said yes. When I volunteered my time, I was thinking it was going to be just my daughters third grade class. When I found out that ALL the third grade classes come together on party times. I then realized I was going to be taking pics of over 100 kids. WOWZA!!! At first I was alittle nervous but then, our daughter Lily is her name said, " mom you got this your so good at taking pics and kids LOVE you". To hear if from your childs voice really hits the heart. So I said a prayer, or two :) then I brain stormed how I could do these pictures. It all went really smooth, some children were out for the holiday break or due to illness, and teacher gave me a place to set up, and I did a little backdrop to add some color along, with some fun hats for each child to choose in their picture.
I will have to stop and critique myself on this just a little, because well that's what I do. In all the 86 pictures I took the only one that didn't come out how I wanted it was of course my daughters. I have to chuckle because as a photographer you can struggle with glasses and reflections in the lens. I had her tilted right, glasses tillted ect. But in the end I still got a light in her lens.. ONLY her pair of course, cause their were several other children that wore glasses and I didn't have a problem. SO as the saying goes, practice makes perfect.
I am still learning and I know in this business we can't always get the shot we want. Nevertheless I am still pleased with this image of our daughter, it shows her sweetness, sense of style and how proud she was I was there capturing her and her friends. Most importantly it is a image I will cherish because it was done with love, for my daughter and it will always bring the memory to mind of her 3rd grade Christmas Party.
Like a always say, capturing memories for a lifetime is my passion.
